I’m a media maker who lives in Massachusetts, USA. Along with this blog, I’m researching and developing a documentary film–also titled THE ODD BIRD–about my experiences with the neurological disorder Nonverbal Learning Disability. I’m also mulling over various other creative projects I hope to tackle in the future.

I commend you and congratulate you on your courage in creating this great blog. What a wonderful place to find information on this and other learning differences! I have been a speech/language pathologist and a classroom teacher for almost 30 years, and have gained so much from the many kids with NLD, PDD and other “spectrum” disorders. I totally agree with you about the fact that all types of divergent thinking need to be fostered and appreciated. What a dull place we’re going to find ourselves in if we don’t value and support creative and novel thinkers!
I’m also the Aunt of a wonderful young man with NLD. I’ve sent his parents the link to you blog. I wish I had found it much earlier!
Good luck to you; keep up the great work!
